Burning Man ELS🌸
is coming to
Nijmegen!

We are excited to share that the Burning Man European Leadership Summit (ELS) is coming to Nijmegen! From 16 to 19 April 2026, we’ll welcome community builders, artists, event organizers, and changemakers from around the world to our hometown! As you may know, the values of 50/50 Fest are rooted in the principles of Burning Man, making this a very good match.

Since 2014, the ELS has been a unique gathering where dreamers, doers, and organizers come together to share knowledge, spark ideas, and build lasting connections. In 2026, the theme is “The Art of Becoming”  focusing on transformation, creativity, and the reimagining of society.

Together with Burning Man and Burning Man NL, we invite you to help co-create this special event of connection and imagination.

How joining the ELS works
The ELS is a gathering for community leaders from regional Burning Man communities. You do not sign up directly. Participation starts with a nomination.
Nominations come from Regional Contacts or through self-nomination. They show that someone is active in their local community and ready to contribute on a wider level.
After the nomination comes the application for participation.
Applications are reviewed to keep the event balanced and focused on leadership.
Only approved applicants receive a registration link.

Contribute your art, ideas, and experiments
Besides attending by nomination, you can also participate by bringing something of your own. Art. Workshops. Installations. Experiments. Social moments. Something that teaches, moves, or surprises. The Call for Interactivity is open now.

Theme: The Art of Becoming.
A reminder that every person, every project, every community is in motion. The 2026 edition focuses on participation. Sessions invite people to take part, not only observe. Bring learnings from your regional burn. Test a new idea. Try something playful or unexpected. New voices are welcome, including groups that have not presented before.

What you can submit

  • Interactive sessions from 30 to 75 minutes

  • Play and connection experiences

  • Evening magic: performances, themed settings, cultural exchanges, games

  • Installation art shaping the space

  • Anything that brings your perspective and energy

  • New for 2026: Deep Dive Working Sessions for intensive co-creation on community topics, chosen during event registration

Key date

  • 15 January 2026: deadline for proposals

Ready to join?

Applying for participation does not count as a registration or nomination. Your submission is reviewed first. You will receive a separate confirmation once you are approved and can register. Nominees are contacted first to register.

Shine & share

For four days you immerse yourself in a world that is really different! You arrive on Thursday and leave on Sunday.

You are the program!

You’ll meet people who show the most beautiful aspects of themselves, trough which they shine. This can be anything, big or small—it doesn’t matter.

And the beauty is: You do that too!

Based on the Burning Man principles.

You are self-reliant!
At the 50/50 Fest, there’s nothing for sale. You are responsible for bringing everything you’ll need for the weekend.

Leave no trace!
Make sure there is no trace of us. There are no trash bins, so you’ll need to take all your waste home. Really? Really
